A helping hand with train inspections! 🚂
Shenhao Robotics is creating a robot to check trains was a big challenge. This robot can inspect lots of spots—14,000 in just 32 minutes! It inspects things and assets that are 120 meters away. It helps with problems like dirty jobs, finding tricky leaks, and boring tasks that people used to do.
The Shenhao TVIS1000 Inspectabot® is a clever way to check under trains without people doing the hard work. It uses a mix of wheels, a mechanical arm, LiDAR, and 3D cameras to do the job in maintenance areas. The CV is key here in combination with hardware to make the platform autonomous and able to complete as many tasks as possible without human intervention.
This helps with tricky tasks like finding leaks and checking the train's bottom, saving money on labor and making the job easier for workers. Using this technology makes inspections faster, and more accurate, and prevents problems in how trains run before they become serious.
The robo-deputy electrician reports readiness! ⚡️
Creating a robot that handles cabinet wiring was a huge challenge. Cabinet wiring involves intricate tasks that require fine motor skills and precise maneuvering, which can be difficult for robots to replicate accurately. They need to handle various wire types, connect components correctly, and navigate within a confined space.
Imagine, wiring these cabinets—those intricate connections that make things work—took up nearly half the time! Rittal GmbH & Co. KG tackled this by unveiling their marvel, the Wiring Robot.
They revealed it at a recent showcase, demonstrating how this bot reads digital plans from EPLAN to identify components and flawlessly link wires together. This invention is a game-changer, making the once-tricky task of connecting wires in control cabinets a breeze.

The world before there were autonomous robots mowing grass.
I think safety could be at a higher level, don't you?
This robot learns how to manipulate things! 🤹🏼♀️
Recent advances in deep reinforcement learning (RL) show promise in teaching robots complex tasks in virtual environments. However, making these skills work in the real world is tricky due to the differences between simulation and reality. 🔮
DeXtreme achieves human-like in-hand manipulation while training entirely in simulation. In this video, you can see the live visualization (no physics involved) of the states of hand and cube in Omniverse.
Trained in NVIDIA's Omniverse - the system transfers the learned skills to reality. DeXtreme introduces techniques to train robots to handle objects with finesse using an anthropomorphic hand, alongside a reliable system to track the object's position.
By training these systems in simulations that mimic various conditions, NVIDIA achieved impressive performance, surpassing existing methods and showing potential for applying these skills to affordable robot hands and cameras, bridging the gap between virtual training and real-world application.

Elon’s humanoid got an upgrade! 🚀
Yes, I know. You're probably thinking right now, 'Ziegler, aren't you Internet Explorer in disguise?'
I know this news is over 2 weeks old, but it came out exactly 1 day after my newsletter.... So I missed out on that. So I'm catching up on that!
Tesla has unveiled the Optimus Gen 2, showcasing its remarkable capabilities in a new video. This upgraded humanoid robot shows improved stability and agility as it confidently walks through a cybertruck factory, performs squats in a gym, executes hand movements, and handles delicate tasks like picking up an egg, culminating in a synchronized dance routine between two Optimus robots.
With enhanced actuators, sensors, and a 30% increase in walking speed, coupled with a weight reduction and improved balance, this iteration promises a leap forward in human-like robotic functionality, offering potential in addressing mundane or hazardous tasks.
